Observations this month:
This month we lost one of the true champions of English Whisky and a thoroughly nice and helpful person with the passing of John McCarthy the Head Distiller of Adnams. It of course puts all the other news in perspective.
The spirit sector continues to be busy with new product launches and fund-raising. Plus several brands pushing out into new markets/ channels. Of particular interest will be Woven’s venture into London with a new whisky studio dedicated to whisky experimentation.
There continues to be much activity from English Whisky with both product launches and the launch of new whisky brand Becketts from Kingston Distillery.
As we wait with baited breadth for the budget to see if there is any changes that effect us, we continue to feel the impacts of last years duty change with depressed/ low growth spirits sector and struggling margins which we are still seeing the impacts of.
