Craft Spirits Market Intelligence and Tracking Survey April 2025

The April 2025 Craft Spirits Market intelligence and Tracking Survey covering over 940 UK craft spirits from 85 distilleries/ producers.

Observations' this month:

The world of spirits, and craft spirits in particular, is still very challenging. The implications behind Diageo’s decision to close Distill Ventures are still reverberating through the 31 companies formerly of their stable. These are likely to continue and also impact the wider market as they seek alternative investment and/ or rein back investment/ activity. Interestingly despite the perceived difficulties of raising funding presently, two distilleries (one being Two Drifters) have just overfunded on CrowdCube this month; showing there is still appetite for good brands with strong stories.

The continuing turmoil prompted by Trump’s approach to tariffs and impromptu announcements continues to impact sentiment and the wider market. It is likely to continue impact the market throughout the year.

As the period this report covers closed the first ever English Week commenced and has generated much coverage and interest. Perhaps its success points to the way out of the current market doldrums; i.e. create experiences that people want to participate in to drive interest and sales. Smart brands will look at the “national day” section and build campaigns and experiences to continue to engage consumers.

The Report includes social media and email activity tracking by brand, SKU/Range analysis and online pricing tracking. Sections included: English Whisky, English Craft Gin, English Craft Vodka, British Rum and British Liqueurs. It includes a News Digest and Insights to aid management of product range.
